The Algarve is the southernmost region in mainland Portugal. Bathed by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean but strongly influenced by the Mediterranean, its landscape is hugely diverse. The region’s unique environmental wealth and the fact that the climate is pleasant all year round make it an excellent destination for walkers.

Here, you will find typical Mediterranean scrubland, oak forests and riparian forests in the upland areas, karst landscapes and dryland orchards in the barrocal and cliffs, dunes and lagoon systems in the coastal area.
